Favorite Things This Week

Wednesday, July 5, 2017

Some of my favorite things so far this summer! Some I've bought and already tried (X), and some just currently on my wish list (O). Here they are, listed, from left to right. Enjoy!

Shroomami Nourish Bowl

Tuesday, July 4, 2017

This is a take on one of my favorite rice bowls from Sweet Green. It seems like a lot of steps and ingredients, but each part is really quite simple to make. Just go part by part and you'll see it's not so difficult! The warm rice and tofu pair nicely with the fresh greens and raw beets, and everything is so deliciously good for you! It's even got 21 grams of protein per bowl.

Coffee & Cacao Wake-Up Smoothie

Wednesday, June 28, 2017

This is my new favorite morning shake. We've been making cold brew in the fridge lately, so I decided to throw it into a smoothie, and it's become my energy boost extraordinaire! It's also only five ingredients and takes five minutes to make, so why not?

My Vegan Salted Peanut Butter Cups

Monday, June 19, 2017

Your guests will never guess the secret ingredient in these! It's vegan cream cheese! (my new favorite thing, which I get at Trader Joe's - Tofutti also has a great version). The rest of the ingredients are whole, healthy foods that will only make you feel great. All the raw cacao is packed with antioxidants and the coconut oil helps your liver detox the body. Basically, these are peanut butter cups you don't have to feel bad about. Plus, they're so easy to make - no baking required.

Toast: for More Than Just Avocado

Friday, June 16, 2017

I sometimes get into the habit of eating the same things every day. One of these things is toast for breakfast. I have peanut butter on toast or avocado smashed on toast and put very little creativity into it. "It's just toast," I'll say, and what more can I really do with it without racking my brain?

Spiralized Cucumber Salad

Thursday, June 15, 2017

This salad is a yummy mix of textures, with creamy avocado, crisp and juicy cucumber, and crunchy pepitas.

Dr. Dennis Gross: A Review

Saturday, June 10, 2017

This is a rundown of one of my favorite brands of all time. Dr. Dennis Gross is an A-list dermatologist and cancer researcher with an amazingly effective, cruelty-free skincare line, some of which I can't live without.  The products target a wide range of maladies like fine lines, acne, sun damage, and dull skin. Here, I'm reviewing some products I'm just now trying, and some of my old favorites.

My Favorite Places in Brooklyn

Saturday, May 20, 2017

In case you all haven't gathered it from every photo I post being located in "Brooklyn, NY"... I live in Brooklyn, NY. Williamsburg, specifically. Now I'm no expert on nightlife or the newest, latest, and greatest, but I do know what I like to do, and maybe that can be helpful to those of you visiting. Here is a list of the "bests" in my own little world. If you live here also and know great spots, feel free to add in the comments. x

Fasting For Your Body Type

Monday, April 10, 2017

Eating is a central part of our daily lives. It's important to take care. In this busy world we eat when we are stressed or sad, we eat too much, we eat at odd & inconsistent hours, we eat foods that are processed and indigestible, and we put food into our bodies before our last meal has even had time to digest. Once in a while, it is necessary to hit refresh and allow our systems to realign.

Thoughts This Week: No. 3

A quick and easy breakfast recipe, what's in my shopping cart, and my favorite entertainment this week

How Our Monthly Cycle Affects Our Brains

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

The menstrual cycle is something women are taught, in mainstream society, to be ashamed of at worst and to tolerate at best. Rarely do we think something good, let alone brilliant, can stem from its processes. We associate our period with cramps, mood swings, bloating, and rage, and we see the ups and downs of the rest of the month as our alter egos creeping up to sabotage our relationships, creativity, and overall happiness. We try our best to turn from them or even control them.

The World Always Needs You

Monday, April 3, 2017

It's all well and good to discuss the problems of the world on the internet. The internet and social media are great platforms for spreading awareness of issues around us we may normally have never heard of. It's an even more beautiful and recent thing that we have access to current events that are not written solely by partisan, mainstream news sources. There's a wide range of perspectives available on any issue, and we have the option to view it through many of those lenses. Reading the news is still not enough. If we want real change, we need to take further action.

Easy Vegan Green Curry

Friday, March 31, 2017

This is something I whipped together using ingredients I had just sitting around. That's the beauty of curries I think. There are some flavor rules, but when it comes to what you throw into them, it's really up to you. The mixture of curry paste and coconut milk is a pretty standard and simple base, but feel free to change up the veggie and protein choices if you like. Although I highly suggest the mushrooms mmm...

Cucumber Pineapple Jalapeño Juice

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

I'd like to think of this as the healthiest virgin margarita I've ever had. This is an adaptation from a recipe in the Moon Juice Cookbook and boy is it amazingly delicious and unique. I think the cilantro, lime, and chili give it a refreshing zing. And don't worry... The jalapeño isn't as spicy as you'd think (seeds and core are removed for your own comfort).

UVA, B, & Vitamin C... Here's The Scoop on Sun Exposure

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

What the sun does:
According to the American Skin Cancer Foundation, "More than 90 percent of visible skin changes associated with aging are caused by the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays." Unprotected exposure to the sun over time causes:
