"....through a balanced diet, and a rigorous exercise routine."

-Patrick Bateman, American Psycho

Until I find a moisturizer that does all the work of keeping my skin taught and clear, keeps my butt where I want it to be, and keeps my stress levels down, I'm going to just have to exercise

I never feel better than in those periods where I get into the swing of an exercise routine, and I've been sticking with it. Ideally, this means an intense hour or so, three to four times a week. It doesn't always work out this way, but I did say ideally.

My favorite exercises are those that keep your brain working, whether it be because you're constantly learning, or just working on your reaction time. I do use the treadmill or the bike once in a while, and I do enjoy the occasional Soul Cycle class, for a quick calorie burn sesh, but what always keeps me coming back for more is boxing & jumping rope.

I had a few sessions with a great boxing instructor here, Michael Olajide, which really helped me improve my jump rope skills. Once you learn how, its something you can do just about anywhere, with little or no instruction. Going back to class is mostly to be around someone/others who can motivate you to do it for an hour straight. I can't say I'm that intense at home!

I do like to mix strength training in with my cardio. Having muscle doesn't mean being bulky, but if you want your body to burn calories more easily and to boost your metabolism, you have to have some muscle. Doing cardio certainly burns calories immediately, but is limited in terms of long term benefits. I'm not an expert and am not claiming to be, so I suggest reading about this subject on your own a bit more if you want to really learn. But I'll say...Squats, lunges, push-ups, planks, etc. If I had a choice between these and cardio, I would probably do these. They lift and tighten you like you wouldn't believe.

In terms of eating, I don't cut out any big groups. I have before and didn't notice any impressive changes (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian). Now I eat essentially what I like, in moderation. Sweets but only a little.I use Truvia in my coffee. Lots of veggies. Lean meat. Try not to drink too much. Bread, but usually whole grain. It's pretty simple. Living in New York and going out to eat a lot makes it hard to cut out anything big for me.

  1. Exercise is also important for bone health, especially weight bearing exercises. It can help prevent bone loss osteoporosis when we get older.

  3. I've always wanted to be one of those people who like to excercise and all that but I'm just not lol I'm so lazy for those things, but maybe it is because I haven't found the one that I like. I love walking and dancing tho, so I do that a lot, I take dance clases and walk everywhere I go, and I've always wanted to do kick boxin so I will try that one soon :)

I love NY, but I live like 9000 km from it so it's reeally hard to visit for me :/ Or post something about your possible travels or how many languages do you speak? Make new tutorials :-) - Fan from Europe (girl) :D
