Pore Refresh Day

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

Continuing on my last post about my day to day cleansing routine, I wanted to share some of my favorite ways to clear out my pores on special occasions/ at home spa days, which I do about once a week. Sometimes you just have those days where you look in the mirror like "Okay, emergency, what can I do to totally hit refresh..." Today is that day for me.

My favorite first step:
Is to not spend a ridiculous amount of money on a one-time treatment, which means doing it at home and finding the right products. Usually, I like to cleanse my face as usual with a simple gel cleanser in the shower, then, while my pores are nice and open, I either...

A) put on a natural pore strip (I used to use Biore, but read a lot of negative feedback and found out they can actually enlarge your pores over time.) My new favorites are these by Jeju. OR
B) use Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, if I feel like my forehead and T-Zone are feeling grimey. This stuff is like a vacuum. It can also be quite drying, though, so watch out. You may want to use on your t-zone only.

Second step:
Use the ole' favorite, Thayer's Witch Hazel, to tone and balance your PH.

Finally:
I'll usually use a sheet mask. I'm not too picky about which kind I use, but those hinting at "clearing" and "pore care" usually do the trick. If I'm feeling dry, I'll use a deep moisturizing one, with hyaluronic acid or aloe.
Tonymoly, It's Skin, and Innisfree make great ones from 1-5 bucks each. I usually just buy a bunch of random ones to be honest and I'm usually happy with most. Half the fun is wearing them... :)

After all this, I usually just leave my skin as is. If my skin is really showing a need for it though, I'll throw on a light moisturizer, like Caudalie Sorbet.

  1. You use quite a few Korean beauty products! The Jeju product comes from a beautiful volcanic island off the coast of South Korea. And I've wanted to use bentonite clay masks for a while, but I forgot to look into it lol *writes note to self*.

    1. I just realized it, but you're so right! A lot of my favorite sites to buy beauty products from are Korean and I'm really into the whole super clean skin, sunscreen like crazy routine of theirs. Peach & Lily is a really good site :) And yes, try the mask! You get like 200 uses out of that jar, so you only need to buy once xox

  6. Hey Dayna, so i recently found your blog and have been following your social media presence for quite a while now, I also just started a blog and was wondering how you added the "read more" feature onto your blog posts as I find mine just show the full post on my home page and I can image it would get rather frustrating for my readers to have to scroll down through full posts (especially my long ones) just to get to my older posts! I adore your blog, your writing and style is so easy to read and so lovely, thank you and I hope to hear back from you ! :) xo

  7. Hello Dayna!

I love the Tony Moly mask as well! How many of them have you tried? Do you have any favorites? I love the Rice Milk one the best. (: Also since you're vegan I thought I should mention the brand Foxie Cosmetics. They make vegan skincare and it's all homemade with natural ingredients! I think you would love it. (:
